The Slides

There are four water slides at Hemera and all of them come down into the main pool area, which is a deliberate arrangement rather than a coincidence. It means the noise has one address, parents can sit at one pool instead of patrolling three, and the other six pools stay exactly as quiet as they were built to be.

WHERE THEY LAND
All four arrive in the main pool, a thousand square metres at a hundred and forty centimetres. A slide landing into a small pool turns the whole pool into a landing area. This one does not.

FOR THE YOUNGEST
The children’s pool is separate, twenty six square metres and forty centimetres deep, and it is not underneath anything. Children not ready for the slides are not sitting next to them either.

THE SHAPE OF THE AFTERNOON
The slides are busiest between lunch and the late afternoon and almost empty in the first hour after they open. Families who work that out on the first day tend to repeat it all week.

A Mediterranean Destination

Side wears its history lightly. An ancient theatre and the Temple of Apollo stand among its streets, the beaches run either side of the promontory, and the whole of the Pamphylian coast opens out from the hotel gate.
